What is a choice matrix question?
A choice matrix question shows a grid. Each row is a statement or item and each column is an answer option, such as True and False, or Indicated and Not indicated. The candidate picks one option per row.
When to use it
Use a choice matrix when you want to ask several related questions about the same scenario without repeating the stem. It works well for case studies, where candidates judge a list of findings, actions or statements against the same options.
How Synap marks it
Choice matrix questions are auto marked. Each row is checked against the correct option, so candidates get credit for the judgements they get right and results are available straight away.
Authoring tips
Keep rows short and parallel in structure. Use column headings that leave no room for interpretation, and check that no row could reasonably fit more than one column.
Choice matrix is one of 29 question types in Synap's exam authoring software, alongside reusable question banks, bulk import and flexible marking.
