More than a submission box

A whole unit of work, in one assignment

A Synap assignment isn’t just an upload box. It’s an ordered set of tasks — readings, videos and notes, quizzes and surveys, written answers and file submissions — that a learner works through to a deadline.

Auto-marked quizzes are scored instantly, and submissions are marked by your team — so a single assignment can mix things that mark themselves with work that needs a human eye.

Explore authoring & question types
  • Mixed-media content

Combine readings, videos, notes and embeds into one task.

  • Quizzes & surveys

Auto-marked questions and surveys inside the assignment.

  • File & project uploads

Upload a document, or zip and submit a whole project.

  • Written answers

Text-entry responses for essays and short-form work.

Deadlines & groups

Set the window, track the progress

Give each assignment a start and end date and a deadline, and set different deadlines for different groups of learners. Grant extra time where it’s needed, per candidate.

As learners work through the tasks, you can see their progress and completion — so you always know where a cohort is up to.

  • Start, end & deadline dates

Control exactly when an assignment opens, closes and is due.

  • Per-group deadlines

Different cohorts can have different deadlines on the same task.

  • Extra time

Grant extended time to individual candidates who need it.

  • Progress & completion

Track how far each learner has got through the assignment.

Marking & feedback

Mark, moderate and certify

Mark submissions consistently with detailed rubrics and multiple marker roles — provisional, moderating, back-reading and auditing — with resolution rules that turn several markers’ scores into a defensible final mark.

Release feedback and mark schemes to learners when you’re ready, and issue a verifiable certificate on successful completion.

An assignment is an ordered set of tasks a learner works through to a deadline — a mix of readings, videos and notes, quizzes and surveys, written answers and file uploads. It can group learners, track progress and issue a certificate on completion.
Through the assignment itself: they can upload a document or zip and submit a whole project via a File Upload task, and type written responses with a text-entry task. Quizzes inside the assignment are answered on-platform.
Yes. Each assignment has start and end dates and a deadline, different groups can have different deadlines on the same assignment, and you can grant extra time to individual candidates who need it.
Quizzes are auto-marked instantly. Submissions (uploads and written answers) are marked by your team against rubrics, with multiple marker roles — provisional, moderating, back-reading and auditing — and resolution rules that produce a defensible final mark. You control when feedback and mark schemes are released.
Synap doesn’t include a built-in plagiarism checker, but you can connect an external originality service through our API and webhooks and store the originality report link against each submission — so plagiarism checking fits into your existing workflow.
Yes. On successful completion you can issue a digital certificate that’s verifiable via a public validation URL and can carry an expiry date — the same certificates you use for exams.
