Exam security

IP restriction

Limiting exam access to specific network addresses, so candidates can only sit from approved locations.

What is IP restriction?

IP restriction limits who can access an exam based on their network address. By allowing only specific IP addresses or ranges, an organisation can ensure candidates only sit an exam from approved locations — a particular test centre, campus network or invigilated venue.

It's a straightforward but effective control for in-person and centre-based exams: even with the right login, a candidate can't start the exam from an unapproved network. Combined with proctoring and a lockdown environment, IP restriction is part of a layered approach to assessment security.
