Role-based access control (RBAC)

Controlling what each person can see and do based on their role, so sensitive content and data stay protected.

What is role-based access control?

Role-based access control (RBAC) grants permissions according to a person's role rather than to each individual. A question writer, an exam marker, an administrator and a candidate each get exactly the access their role needs — and nothing more.

In assessment this matters enormously: it keeps content teams away from candidates' personal data, stops markers seeing information that could bias them, and limits exposure of live exam content. Fine-grained, field-level RBAC — combined with sub-portals — is a cornerstone of Synap's assessment security.
