What is a drawing question?
A drawing question gives the candidate a canvas to draw on. Candidates can sketch a diagram, plot a graph or annotate an image as their answer.
When to use it
Use drawing questions when the answer is a picture rather than words: graph sketches in maths and economics, diagrams in science, or annotations in design and technical subjects.
How Synap marks it
Drawing questions are manually marked. Markers review each drawing alongside the rest of the candidate's exam and can add marks and feedback.
Authoring tips
Say exactly what the drawing should show and what earns marks, for example labelled axes or key features. Allow extra time, especially if candidates are drawing with a mouse or trackpad.
Drawing is one of 29 question types in Synap's exam authoring software, alongside reusable question banks, bulk import and flexible marking.
