Cloze (gap-fill)

A question with gaps in a passage that the candidate completes by typing, selecting or dragging in the missing content.

What is a cloze question?

A cloze question — also called a gap-fill — presents a passage or structure with one or more blanks that the candidate must complete. It tests recall and understanding in context rather than simple recognition.

Cloze questions come in a few flavours: typing the answer into the gap, selecting it from a dropdown, or dragging the correct item into place. Because the accepted answers are defined in advance, cloze questions are marked automatically and instantly — Synap supports all three variants as part of its question types.
