# User profiles

The Overview page is the quickest way to confirm that you have opened the correct account and understand its current state.

### Identity and portal data

The profile can show the person’s name, email address, Synap ID, external ID, time zone, account dates, profile image and the Attributes configured for your portal. The exact fields vary because Attributes are organisation-defined.

Use the Synap ID when two users have similar names or when reconciling a record with an integration. Use an external ID for your organisation’s own stable identifier where one has been supplied.

### Engagement summary

Recent sessions and activity provide a quick indication that the account has been used. They are not a complete learning report. Open **Insights**, **Progress**, **Assignments** or **Exams** when you need the underlying attempt or completion record.

### Account state

A disabled account is clearly marked in the profile sidebar. Disabling prevents sign-in while retaining the record; it is different from removing the person from one group or deleting their account.
