# Extended matching questions

Extended Matching Questions (EMQs) group related questions around shared instructions, a stem or feedback.

### When to use an EMQ group

Use an EMQ group when several questions refer to the same scenario, source material or response set. This avoids repeating the same content and keeps the relationship between questions explicit.

An EMQ group can contain:

| Element                         | Purpose                                                |
| ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Title and identifiers**       | Identify the group in the builder and imports.         |
| **Instructions or shared stem** | Content presented with the related questions.          |
| **Feedback**                    | Shared feedback for the group.                         |
| **Audio instructions**          | Optional recorded instructions and playback behaviour. |
| **Questions**                   | The questions assigned to the group.                   |

Create the group first, then assign or add its questions. Check the complete group in Preview so repeated content and question-specific stems read naturally together.
