# Mobile app

The Mobile App setting controls whether links to the Synap iOS and Android apps appear in the portal menu.

Enable **Show Synap app download links in menu** when learners will benefit from practising questions on the go. It is most relevant to portals primarily using question banks and Self Practice.

The setting advertises the app; it does not guarantee that every web workflow or organisation-specific feature is available in the mobile experience. Test the learner journey you plan to promote and make any limitations clear in your onboarding guidance.

Before enabling the links, sign in through the app with a representative student and check the specific practice content, tags, media and authentication method you expect them to use. Controlled exams, complex embedded material and administrator workflows may still be better suited to the web portal.

This control requires the **Mobile app** entitlement. When the entitlement is unavailable, the option is shown disabled.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://synap.ac/docs/platform/portal/mobile-app.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
