# Exam data

To learn more about how to configure results pages Exam data in Synap gives you a complete view of performance across your exams, from individual attempts through to overall exam quality. You can control how results are presented to users, analyse performance at exam, question and topic level, and export data for deeper reporting. Together, these tools help you understand outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and ensure your exams are reliable, consistent and aligned with your learning objectives.

There are 5 key areas to view exam data&#x20;

1. Results pages&#x20;
2. Exam statistics&#x20;
3. Attempts tables&#x20;
4. PDF Exports
5. API / Zapier

### Results pages&#x20;

Exam results pages show performance at the **individual attempt level**, with each page unique to a candidate’s submission. They provide a detailed breakdown of how that specific attempt was marked, including scores, feedback, certificates, questions, cohort stats, tag breakdowns and more.&#x20;

Learn more about results page options, using our detailed guide below&#x20;

### Statistics&#x20;

The Exam statistics page provides a complete view of performance across all attempts for an exam. It brings together high-level metrics, detailed question analysis and tag-based insights to help you understand how your exam is performing overall.

You can explore performance across three areas:

* **Exam stats** for overall performance, distributions and reliability
* **Question stats** for detailed, per-question analysis
* **Tag stats** for aggregated insights across subjects, topics, skills and more

Together, these views help you identify trends, evaluate question quality and make informed improvements to your exams over time.

### Attempts tables

Attempts tables are available across the platform, both at a global level and within specific areas like exams and user groups. They provide a detailed overview of all attempts, making it easy to review performance, track activity and manage data in one place.

From the attempts table, you can filter and segment data, customise how information is displayed, and export results for your own analysis. You can also open individual attempts in a modal to view more detailed information about that submission, including scores, status and key metadata.

### PDF Exports

There are two different methods to export exam related PDFs &#x20;

1. Specific attempt/s: Done from the attempt management table&#x20;
2. Overall exam exports: Done from the action button in the top right

#### 1. Specific attempt PDFs

Select the attempt/s you want to export and use the PDF button select PDF

<figure><img src="https://3316915154-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MkgvUeCmTPeNouRxGPC%2Fuploads%2Fuw1vDB1p8AkiJ1B82l9C%2FScreenshot%202026-10-22%20at%2010.30.49.png?alt=media&amp;token=e4f63aad-d560-4e99-a01b-e4f80284af90" alt=""><figcaption><p>Specific attempt PDF exports</p></figcaption></figure>

There are 3 different types of PDF exports available all have additional configs:&#x20;

| Export Type          | Description                                                                                                                                 | Example                                                                                                                                                                                     |

#### 2. Overall exam exports

Use the button in the the top right to open the exam actions menu, select Export question paper. The export provided is similar to the answer booklet and question paper export above, but it is not associated to a specific user or attempt.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://3316915154-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MkgvUeCmTPeNouRxGPC%2Fuploads%2FcWumPS0rf76UVZiO7pph%2FScreenshot%202026-10-22%20at%2010.39.47.png?alt=media&amp;token=6e55fbd4-afba-45f7-8fa1-5b495d4d7f28" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### API / Zapier

Synap’s API and Zapier integrations allow you to securely access and automate your exam data outside of the platform. This makes it easier to connect Synap with your existing systems, such as CRMs, data warehouses or reporting tools.

You can use these integrations to:

* Sync attempt and results data automatically
* Trigger workflows based on exam activity
* Build custom reporting and dashboards

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://synap.ac/docs/exams/create-and-manage-exams/exam-data.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
